YTMND was a classic meme format where you would combine a short repeating audio clip on a webpage that uses a repeating image or gif as the background. Then you put text on the page that is most often whatever the sound bite is saying. And that's it.
There is a website that hosts YTMND pages that were inspired by the original and it's pretty cool that it's still going. But I find the modernization of the site since about 2020 to be a bit depressing.
Modern browsers don't like to start playing audio or video on pages without getting interaction from the user first, so it makes sense why they had to add the play button, but the length of time that the start animation takes really detracts from the enjoyment of browsing posts for me.
As a result I just host mine here and coded the start functionality myself. It's very fast compared to the official one. And since there's no way to avoid some modernization, might as well dial up the insanity; I use any combination of Javascript and CSS in these to make them as crazy as possible.
So they're not strictly YTMND posts anymore, but more like single page multimedia shitposts that were inspired by them.
Prepare for audio and moving graphics when you click start. Click again to stop it.
